Feeding Tubes

With over 8 years hand on experience, Melissa is highly skilled at managing feeding tubes.  Working alongside senior Gastroenterologists and nursing staff within Alfred Health, Melissa runs the PEG service at Caulfield Hospital and is a supervisor under the PEG credentialing program.  Melissa’s skill-set includes:

  • Identification of feeding tubes (including gastric and jejunal tubes)
  • Assisting in problem solving complications associated with feeding tubes and/or the tube site
  • Co-ordination of care with members of the healthcare team around tube replacement/removal 
  • Nutrition assessment, management and monitoring of tube feeds to optimise nutrition, weight and quality of life
